Question:
2009 daylight saving time - automatic changes not happening to computer clock?

my computer clock did not change automatically for DST this year. It did so last year.
First, I manually changed it but I also noticed that my yahoo mails stayed the old time. I synced my clock to both internet times: time.windows.com and time.nist.gov, to see if those internet clocks reflect DST but they restore the old time. Looks like the internet is not following the DST this year?

I have windows XP and I did set my clock to Pacific Time. As I said, no problems last year.

Is there a patch? Or the web is not recognizing DST change in US for March 8?

thanks!!

Wow Robin where you been? DST in the U.S. did occur March 8th.

WatDat?: Right-Click on your clock, choose adjust time and date.

Then check your time zone. Underneath that is a box stating something like "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Savings Time." Click this box and your time should update to the correct time. If this box is unchecked then it reverts back to the old time.

Hope this helps!

Daylight savings actually began early this year and computers are not all on the same page. This is happening to a lot of computers. I have not found a patch for my XP as of yet, but I am looking! I imagine the problem will fix itself when the actual date arrives. until then, just don't let the clock sync and manually adjust it.

Well, mines did. I switched on my phone (Nokia 6300) at 8.30am AEST and as soon as it hitted a tower, it changed to 9.30am AEDT. You need to have activated the setting to update the time and date automatically on your phone in order for that to happen. My computer also changed automatically. Also, this year's daylight saving is a bit different. It is earlier than previous years. Some devices are not programmed to change accordingly. Update your phone's software and try to download the Windows Update item which makes your computer aware of the change. EDIT: That feature is network dependent. If your network does not change the time on their system, your phone won't pick up the changes. I use Optus and my phone changed when I turned it on this morning.

Hang on, we're not there yet. DST or BST does not begin until the end of March

Try restarting your computer and see if it changes.

Go to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst

They will walk you through it. I had the same problem.

God bless +
