We all know that Windows XP (and any of Microsoft's other software) is very prone to viruses, crashing and all that fun stuff. Is it still prone to all that when you boot it up on one of the new Intel-based Macs? If it is, does it affect how your computer performs when you run Mac OS X, or does it just damage the part of your hardrive that you have apportioned to Windows XP.

Yes, it has all the same flaws as it does when running on a different computer. If you run Windows on your Mac, you're turning your Mac into the same as any other PC box (although a lot more stylish).

However, by default Windows cannot read/write HFS+ volumes (the standard format for Macintosh drives). This means that no matter how damaged your Windows installation gets, it won't have access to the data on your Mac OS X installation. *However* it is still possible (though not terribly likely) for a poorly-coded virus or malware to corrupt the partition map on your drive, which would render your Mac OS X volume un-mountable regardless of the fact that Windows can't read/write HFS+. So you should still follow basic safety practices, including backing up your drives.

Unfortunately yes, it is. But, none of the mac files would be affected. All you would have to do is reinstall Windows XP
