Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

You can download and scan your computer for free.

The reason probably is that you can allow other people to download from your system as you download from others' computers. Go to Tools>Sharing and uncheck sharing folders in there. Make sure to check what folders are being shared.

Also Limewire is the source of a lot of viruses and malware and spyware that could use your bandwidth. Be sure to do a good virus, spyware, malware security check. Kaspersky or Norton should be a good option.

Also, as a preventive measure, when you download something, be sure to right click and scan the file for virus and other threats and then open the file or folder.

Yes, you scan your disk first, maybe there are spywares.

NO the problem is not with limewire, limewire has nothing to do with internet connection speed pr the quality of your internet surfing.

You may live in area with bad connection speeds, or if you are wireless, you may be to far away. Another possibility is that your computer is just slow and has bad specs, or you could have to many programs installed on your PC.

you could have gone past your monthly limit and your speed is wound down.

or your processor is busy number crunching malware.

run these three programs will fix that.

From my notes

Also while your computer is in good nick you should download and install Superantispyware and Spybot –Search and Destroy because when malware gets going you will not be able to access the net.

Clean Up Computer

Superantispyware

===============

http://www.superantispyware.com

Has a stop homepage from being altered which is good

Can reset windows defaults in various parts

Download and run superantispyware. I was put onto this program because of an annoying popup (XP or Vista plus all OS preceding)

Install it and set the preferences to monitor your home page.

Set up tick boxes that you want in the other tabs as you require.

You don’t need to run it at startup unless you want the antispyware protection 24/7.

Note Superantispyware has powerful reset tools that will set stuff back to windows defaults.

To use these tools click preferences >repairs. This may be handy to reset IE URLS if you have annoying pop ups.

Superantispyware is a good program and remember to update it before scanning. A scan may take 45mins. Just run a scan for the first attack.

Spybot – Search and Destroy

=====================

Download spybot search and destroy. Through its immunize page and link to javacools spyblaster, spybot can manage activex problems which is extremely difficult for antispyware programs to find. Also just run the scan for first attack.

http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html

.

Windows Live Onecare

===================

Onecare safety scan fixes registry and finds temp files that nothing else seems to find.

Choose the Beta Edition link for vista users.

It does registry, spyware , virus , disk clean up and defrag

XP Users http://onecare.live.com/site/en-ca/defau...

Vista Users

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-ca/center/whatsnew.htm

Run the full safety scanner, it takes a few seconds to install the scanning files but when you start the scan, it takes 2 hours or more. Let it load the scanning tools, then start the Safety Scan. So once it starts to load the safety scans' x file of x , you can leave the computer and go to bed etc.

Then at the end of the scan it asks you to set it running full time.

Think twice about setting it to run in the background as it could be another thing to slow you down. However, it may be worth while if you have no other security programs running.

Consider the following options:

I personally run Norton 360 which is full internet security and run superantispyware when I want to.

So if you don’t have a decent internet security program then perhaps run the superantispyware with your antivirus in the background.

If you sick of antivirus programs that don’t work perhaps run onecare full time and run superantispyware whenever.

Now you should be flying and Onecare has even set up a new system restore point for you.

Note onecare does other stuff as well. Click on the menus on the LHS column., but all of this is done if you click Safety Scan.

add onecare to your favourites

IE7

=======

Over time IE7 seems to set its own (or programs do) tick boxes in the advance tab.

In IE7 Tools >Internet Options >Advance Tab

Click Restore advance settings defaults button.

Then scroll the listings down to near the bottom and:

Tick empty temp files when browser closes (this empties the cache, which if not empty, will stop you from going online).

Bullet disable phishing filter (optional. Leave it on if you want that type of protection, usually for financial data like internet banking)

Delete Browser History, cookies, add ons, the whole lot regularly.

Close the browser to set the settings.

.

NOTE: 2008 will be the year of add on malware and spyware. I advise NOT to install active x when asked to on unknown websites. If you allow an active x install and it contains adware or such, no antivirus or anti-spyware will find it, because you have given permission to install it. The cleanup programs think that you want it installed. It will be very difficult to remove.

Phishing Filter

When first released, phishing filter slowed IE7. Apparently, Microsoft has fixed this through the windows updates. If you like you could try to run it - bullet the enable.

Only run one phishing filter program, and only run one firewall program.

.

Fixing Your Computer

Run the scans of the three programs above. If your computer is still faulty then you have to go deeper with the features mentioned.

use disk defragmenter (found in Start;Programs;Acessories;system tools)

you can also find a system cleanup tool there.

Alternatively, use www.crucial.com

Here you can buy extra RAM (increases speed). The service is really good. It has step by step info and it gives you the right info for the right computer. Buying RAM is extremely cheap; just about £20 for 2GB.

Also, the reason your computer's slow maybe because of viruses. Download something like AVG free anti-virus software. This is pretty good and gets rid of most known viruses. (its free!)
2008-06-01 02:21:56 UTC
you could have heaps of cookies is what you could have.

1-turn computer off.

2-unplug modem, count to 10, plug it back in.

3-turn computer back on

4-clean!!! and defragment !!!---and run a spyware removal program (Spybot? Got that one? - McAfee and Defendr kind of work for the enemy now, they really dont remove the spyware anymore

Download spybot. run it. lose a couple dozen spywares that may be slowing the crap out of YOUR computer

(because YES using limewire can result in this)

and also the clogged modem can result (thats why shut down and unplug it).

...these steps should clear it up.

If NOT?--->reset it to a restore point from before it got slow.

PS I agree Limewire made MY computer too bogged to even be able to go online while it was running.

I switched to BittorentDNA6. It's excellent.

Do you have a lot of background programs running like msn messenger, explorer, anti virus, printer/scanner/digital camera programs/drivers etc(icons that you see at the lower right of your screen)? Normally these will eat up your memory causing your Windows PC to slow down.

Why not give PC Booster 2008 a try to boost your PC performance in 2 minutes. i have used for 3 years and it works great!

If you haven't cleaned your registry for some time. You should do it now. The registry in Windows PC contains information regarding your updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events produces a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you clean your registry, you make more resources available for speed.

PC Booster contains the latest registry cleaning technology to clean up all your registry problems too.

Recommeded by CNET and PCMag.

You PC may be filled with malware, run virus and spyware scans.

Check HDD free space and fragmentation levels. That can slow down operations considerably. Run a diskcleanup and if you are still loaded with too much stuff and no free space, get one of the third party automatic defragmenters which can complete the task in very less free space. Google for trials.

Limewire ALWAYS slows computers...especially if you have it opened. I honestly suggest getting rid of Limewire...your speed will increase a lot. If you'd rather keep Limewire...then just be sure it's fully closed when you browse.
2008-06-01 02:20:49 UTC
there could be several reasons why it is so slow.

if you have lots of music downloaded, then you may have used up your quota of downloads for the month.

do u know how much downloads you are allowed and if you've gone over?

it could also be a slow processor if its always been slow....

or you could have spyware, which leads to slow computers.

do u have a good anti virus/spyware program?

perform a scan for spyware, or check your download usage, would be my best advice.

good luck!

Well usually something like that is the reason. Or if you have tons of other downloads, basically lots of downloads slow down computers.
