This is not gonna be a question for long but more a battle of IE vs Firefox(Mozzlia)

I have both on my machine!

(I'm Running Vista)

This is what i have decided to do!

Use Both! - There is an add-on for Firefox called IEtab, this allows you to instantly switch between a firefox rendered page and an IE rendered page

So you just always run firefox, and when a website that needs IE(there are some but they are dieing) then you can click the icon and instantly change without opening new windows, ect.

You can get Safari for Vista......i'm not sure, Mac-ware on a Vista computer, sounds dodgey to me.

Although i have got into the habbit of running IE7 now because its logo is better(i can find it much quicker :P )

Additionally - Don't listen to most of the Firefox freaks who don't realise that IE7 has Tabbed Browsing......Their just addicts.

IE7 is stuck on your machine no matter what and is needed for accessing Windowsupdates via web-browser.

Active X - This is Microsoft's homegrown, any webpage that uses this is going to give Firefox/Safari a hard time, IE will breeze it!

IE7 Vs Mozzila On a Security Branch? - seems that firefox was always better than IE6, but vs IE7, its a new ball game. realistically speaking, both are now extremely tight on security issues.

Firefox has proved faster than IE7, but not by far.

Firefox proved faster than IE6, by a hell of alot.

My Summary would be:

-Lazy - IE7

-Not so Lazy, Firefox with IEtab

The main choices for browsers these days are Safari, Firefox, Opera and IE, all of which are fully Vista supported.

Safari:

One of the fastest out of all of them, highly standards compliant and all around good browser. This is the one I use myself for normal browsing since it has all your standard features while still being light and fast.

Firefox:

This is the other main choice to choose, this or Safari. It's better supported on Windows since it's been around for longer. It's also very standards compliant but a bit slower than Safari. However it has loads of plugins and themes which are quite nice.

Opera:

This browser was built specifically to be standards compliant. And it is. Though not the most. I'd go with this if either Safari or Firefox didn't do it for you.

IE7:

Don't use this. Ever. At all. It is the slowest out of all of them with the worst standards support. It's just wrong on every single possible level. Even though it's Microsoft it's actually the most unstable out of all the four when it comes to browsers. This is because of it's pathetic JavaScript support (being no different than IE6) and only marginally better rendering engine.

What I recommend is either Firefox or Safari. If you don't need plugins or themes then go with Safari. If you want those then go with Firefox. Either will be a good choice. Since they're both free you can always download both and try them.

Just don't use IE. Ever. Ever, ever, ever. Every developer in the world will love you if you don't. Let me put it this way, in order to build a website that looks right on every browser except IE takes me say 10 minutes. To get that same website to look just as good on IE takes me another hour.

Plus IE is insecure, unstable, renders pages with more errors... It's in everyone's interest if you don't use it.

IE7, firefox, opera and safari all work on vista perfectly. Safari is still in beta stage, and has a couple of problems with some advanced scripting, but is ok generally. Opera and firefox can both be skinned, whereas IE and safari cannot (without modding). Not sure whether netscape works on vista or not. I have IE7, firefox, opera and safari on my laptop, for when I create websites and I want to check for uniformity.

I generally use IE7 but if I feel special, I use safari.

I have been a fan of IE for many years until I encountered IE7 on Vista. That made me switch to Firefox and what a great move that was.

I personally use Mozilla Firefox and love it. Beats Explorer hands down! But, I'm using windows Xp...I know nothing about Vista...either way, Mozilla has their sh^t together when it comes to browsers. Oh, and nothing is better for me than the page tabs they have...omits use of the back button.
