I've heard it said that once you go Mac you won't go back. Is this true?

It's been said that the Macintosh is far superior to Windows. Why are so many people dumping Windows and switching to Macs? I just don't understand it. Research by Gartner and others are showing a staggering growth in Windows users switching to Macs. Does this have something to do with people loving the iPhone and iPods?

Why are there no viruses for the Mac? How come Macs hardly crash? Why do Macs come with a suite of applications called iLife? Why are people so incredibly happy once they get a Mac?

Had Mac , and I am back to windows again. Yes Mac has more reliable OS, cause it's base is in Unix, more reliable with no viruses, cause people who spread viruses prefer to attack the 96% of people that use wndows than others,



but when I need more money to buy a game or a software than I need on a windows system, and many of the software out there can't run on a Mac,

when I can use great free programs on Windows like Sketch-up, gimp, Open Office to do my job as a home user without need a small fortune, I prefer windows with crashes.



And even window crash, you need just littleof your time to get them again up and operate to the level you want. NO MONEY need. If you back-up your data often, clean-up and defrag your hard drives regulary, and use antivirus and antispyware and a decent firewall you can have a safe and operating PC for years.



In one of my PC installed windows XP on 2003, chanfed disk on 2006 cause a disk failure, put back the image I had with Norton ghost and in 2 hours where back again, no re-install of software no nothing.



I am not Microsofts fun, I do believe Windows is one of most problematic operating systems, but still give me the freedom to run what ever I want, the time I want without I need to pay a small fortune.



So as a home user with no big wallet,. Windows is the OS. I do believe people overestimate MAC, and soon especially home users will be back on Windows again.



Except if they USE an APPLE PC, with windows.

People are switching because Macs are purty and Apple has good marketing. Hardware wise, they crash just as much as Windows PCs (they use the same hardware now and even before they failed at almost the same rate as windows pcs. i worked on several macs at CompUSA). Operating system wise, Mac OSX and all new versions are more stable because they are built on a UNIX core. Mac is in tight control of what applications are released for it. Anybody can (and does) make programs for Windows. This includes sloppy/lazy programmers. There ARE viruses for mac. There used to not be as many because not many people were on mac. Now that the number is growing, you are seeing more viruses on mac. They were never immune. People are happy when they get a mac because it is very easy to use. Anybody can do it without pulling their hair out. The main reason people get it though is looks. I've worked at computer retail stores and asked hundreds of people and they all say "because I like how it looks" or some form of that statement. If you want to get actual work done, you get a Windows PC. Also, think about the specs of a mac and similarly priced pc. Mac is making a killing! You are pretty much paying full price for the "free" iLife software. Price isn't as bad as upgrades though. $500 for a small ram and hard drive upgrade!? Gimmie a break! Actually I want to get a mac laptop but just for web surfing and such. Already have multiple desktop and laptop windows pcs for important stuff.

Most probably is because (In my opinion) mac is the safest OS from my experiance. And it's very fast too. Macs hardly crash because it's basicly a very good operating system :)

False. Do NOT get a mac. Real gamers and computer fans get real computers.



Mac is the safest yes but it is incompatible with many programs and so on.

I dont own a mac but wish i did.

Id rather pay lots more for an amazing laptop/ computer that hardly crashes and takes cool pics.

I guess because when regular laptops/computers get messed up you pay alot to get it fixed.

But with macs you wont have to worry.
