How do I set Yahoo Mail as my default mailer for internet purposes?

Question

Every time I click on a link on a web page to send an email MS Express pops up. Is there a way in which I can change this to my Yahoo Mail account?

To make Yahoo! Mail the default email application for your computer, click Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab > under E-mail click the down arrow and select Yahoo! Mail > click Apply. If Yahoo! Mail isn't listed as a default email option follow the directions below.



Using Internet Explorer just click "Continue" on the link below to download a small 60K file that will enable Yahoo! Mail to be the default email application for your computer. Whenever you click on an email address on any web page or in any computer program, Yahoo! Mail will open for you in a new window.



If Internet Explorer displays a yellow security bar at the top, click on it and select Install ActiveX Control from the menu.

If a security warning comes up with Yahoo! Inc. as the publisher, click Install.



Now you can click on an email address anywhere and your computer will automatically open up Yahoo! Mail for you.

You can even send documents directly from Word, Excel, or other Windows applications.

Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP / Vista

Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher

Irrespective of whether you use IE or FireFox go to Control Panel.



* Select Network and Internet Connections or Internet Options.



* In Internet Properties select the Program tab.



* In the Email: option select Yahoo! Mail as the default.



Then click OK to save the settings. You might also want to right click on your Start button, click Properties... Customize... then under Show on Start menu select Yahoo! Mail as the default. Now click OK to save.



This will show Yahoo mail on your Start menu too.

Yes you can making Yahoo Mail your primary e-mail it is very easy to change. I'm going to assume you're using Internet Explorer, you want to click on the tools tab, go down to Internet options, on the window that opens, click on the programs tab, on the window that is now open you'll see a line marked e-mail, click on the checkmark to the right of the line, highlight Yahoo. At the bottom click apply & OK and you're all done!

In IE 7: goto Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Email and select the Yahoo! Mail option. If you don't see it, you can install Yahoo messenger which should give you the option, use this link:

If you click

>start

>Control panel

> taskbar and start menu

>start menu (tab)

> customise

>Bt yahoo mail (selection)



Sometimes if you update your yahoo a sign comes up saying make yahoo your default mail client. Hope this helps.

Yep there sure is. you can get rid of MS express or you can go to start, then set program access and defaults. You can also go to your internet settings and change the default or set it to none.
