Hi, thats strange that kmplayer didn't work, it has it's own internal codecs so you wouldnt need to download a codec pack. You could try the new kmplayer, which was invented by the same guy who made kmplayer. He sold kmplayer though to pandora tv and then invented daum potplayer which seems to be as good or better. It's very IMPORTANT you follow the instructions at the bottom here to properly uninstall kmplayer or daum potplayer if you do not like them.
Potplayer can do pretty much everything kmplayer can and more. Daum is being updated and getting better with each new update almost every other day. Daum isn't perfect yet but getting better with each update.
Here is 124 pages of info and growing on daum potplayer. You can get help here also for daum potplayer. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=148745
Here is the latest files for daum. First install daum then install the update for it, and yes it is in english. http://www.dvbsupport.net/download/index.php?act=view&id=230 install this first, then install this beta update, http://www.dvbsupport.net/download/index.php?act=view&id=239
You can ignore the directx update message during installation. Also do not install the potplayer live files.
After installing daum I recommend you right click on aspect ratio and choose (fit to video recommended) then go through and change all the settings to your liking. Also right click on skins and select (always start with video skin) You can manage file associations by, [right click on daum - click on preferances - click on association - to the right click on defaults - click on select all - then apply and close it out, ALWAYS select NONE then APPLY before uninstalling daum or kmplayer.]
In addtion to the instructions above I also recommend after installing daum, (right click - preferences - click on general - to the right choose "default size" on screen when starting dropdown box.) Also checkmark the "default size on closing". Also when the installer comes up do not install the potplayer live files unless you understand live streaming korean tv.
VERY IMPORTANT: Before uninstalling kmplayer or daum potplayer ALWAYS do this. Open kmplayer right click on it - click on options then preferences - click on association/capture - to the right click on association at top - click none - click apply to system - click close. Now you can properly uninstall it without it leaving file associations. Daum is even simpler than kmp to do this.
I hope this helps you out. Good luck!
