Question:
How do I make my computer start up faster?

For a month or two now my laptop has adopted this funny way of loading up, I turn it on and the medion screen pops up and it says 'resuming from hibernation..' at the bottom and everything's great except it just doesn't load (or I've never had the patience to sit there more than 10 minutes to see if it will load or not.) So eventually I end up turning it off and then turning it on again and after maybe the 3rd try it will load. I'd just like to add that after the first try the 'resuming from hibernation..' message changes to something like 'to start bootup press to start medion something-or-other press ..' or atleast that's the general gist of it.
That whole way of loading was really starting to bug me so I trauled the internet in search of an answer and found one that looked relatively simple, I can't remember exactly what I did but I remember it had something to do with what actually loaded when everything is starting up and you could choose what did and didn't so I turned a load of stuff off and my laptop seemed to start up a lot faster but it still took a while to load up.
Then a couple of days ago I thought that maybe deleting some stuff in the recycle bin would be a good idea as I've already sort of deleted it so it must be junk. Somehow I thought it would help make my laptop start up faster so I deleted it all (there were about 300 something files,) and it actually worked and for a day or two my laptop started up really quick and that was awesome.
Trouble is, it's doing the same thing again now and this time it takes more than 3 restarts to get it to work. It took about 10 minutes to load up before I came on here AND I think I may know what's causing it, or atleast I've got a hunch.
Yesterday I was playing the sims 3 and it crashed, it does it a lot actually. The screen goes black but you can still see the cursor, comes back on for a second and then poof! Everything's shut down and when it comes back on it's telling me there was an 'unexpected shut down'. And when that happened yesterday that's precisely when my start up problems started happening again.
I'm not sure what to do, should I re-install the sims? Should I get rid of a load of files? Is there some thing I should click on hidden deep down in the depths of my files that will mean disabling something will get my computer to startup as quick as it did?
Thanks in advance for any answers, I know this text is very long so thankyou also for taking the time to read it. :)

Im guessing what you did was go to start button and in the search/run box type msconfig which enables you to what comes up on start up. In regards to hibernation always ensure you shut down your laptop properly. Also in regards to the slow speed of your laptop you need to clean up your computer for example clean away all the unused temp files and clean your computer registry, but don't panic there's software that will do this for you i suggest you get a copy of tune up utilities and if your not sure on what you should be doing the software has a 1 click maintenance which basicly checks everything for you and tells you what's wrong and all you have to do is click run maintenance and it will sort it for you

STOP putting it in to hibernate.

that is OK

if you are at work and just need to pop out for a coffee for 5 minutes.

Shut the machine down properly

when you have finished using it.

CCleaner is basically a dedicated cleaner which cleans the unwanted files in your computer...for eg. when you download or open any file or site, at many places it is registered in your computer that is not needed by the computer to work.....its a wonderful software that frees unwanted space...

Norton is basically a dedicated anti-virus.....

I sugess to still install CCleaner

Try this it worked for me. Plus its fast. 1. Click the start menu 2. Click Run 3. Type in msconfig and press "OK" 4. Click on Services top right, next to start up. 5. Click on "Hide all Microsoft Services" (Programs needed to run windows) 6. Click on "Disable all" 7. Now click on Startup (top right) 8. Disable All(Disabling all Stupid programs not needed to run windows. 9. Click Apply then close. 10. It will ask you to restart for changes to take effect. "RESTART" You will notice the difference as it boots. If no Difference. More than likely Hardware issues.

I think playing games that require lots of files will cause the comp to crash.. such as 3-D games causes comp to crash easily since I played Meez which was 3-D my comp was reacting in such a weird game.. but I'd say delete all the games you don't play since it will indeed make your computer lag...
