Keyboards around the world aren't the same! The English keyboard differs slightly from the American keyboard (QWERTY). For example, the English has a pound sign on top of the 3 (but it has the dollar sign). If you want to do a pound sign, you can either configure your computer to English QWERTY and type Shift-3, or you can go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map.

I think you can change the keyboard layout for USA to UK
Click Start and then Control Panel
In Control Panel, if you are in Category View, click on Switch to Classic View (top left corner)
Open Regional and Language Options.
and there should be a drop down bar with languages
set it to
ENGLISH (United Kingdom)
but unfortunately the keyboard wont show what you're typing
but at least you get it

Find a pound sign on the internet e.g. £. Then cut and paste it into your document This will save changing the keyboard layout on your computer.

(Alt+0163) £££ hold alt and type 0163, when you let up on the alt button it will show up. In the UK they have a £ sign where our $ sign is (shift and 4)

Alt+3 will result in £ sign
Shift+Alt+2 will result in € sign and
Alt+y will give ¥
