Hey everyone,

What setting in Mac OS allows the user to open up files, folders and desktop icons (basically all finder items) with just one left click of the mouse? In windows the setting is to make explorer items a link, but what is the mac os setting to accomplish this. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Chris

An alias of the file on the desktop would closely resemble what [i think] you're trying to do. However, I would recommend using some of the feature of the Mac OS, such as Stacks, the Sidebar (of a Finder window), or keyboard shortcuts to get to your files faster.

I've been using Macs for over a dozen years now and I've never seen such a thing.

Sure as hell wouldn't want it either. I can't even begin to imagine how one would complete everyday tasks like copying and moving files around with a feature like that.

in preferences you get to choose: one click or two.

I placed my on two clicks. 
