A few days ago my dad gave me an old IBM Thinkpad that he doesn't use anymore. He got it from his company but he retired and they didn't want it back. He used the laptop daily to connect to the company's VPN server, made calls from it, etc. The hard drive on this laptop is pretty small (only 12gb), and I need all the free space I can get because I need to have multiple applications installed for the type of work that I do. I was going through the Program Files folder on my C drive a few minutes ago and saw a "Microsoft SQL Server" folder in there that took up 1GB. I really need the space and I don't think I use SQL, but I'm not sure if I should delete it or not, because I know that there are certain applications that use it. When my dad gave me the laptop I did a clean install of Windows XP Pro and updated everything, but there are still some Windows 2000 files on the computer from when he owned it (I can clean those out easily). I will be using the computer for home and school use, I won't be connecting to any special company networks, just the wireless network at my house, and at my school. I'll be using normal applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Earth, iTunes, etc. Could anyone give me some feedback on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really need the hard drive space.
Thanks!
