Sending very large files over the internet?

My friend is trying to send me a game mod that is really big, almost two gigs. Gmail and Yahoo Mail limit attachment sizes at 20MB, and since we live in completely different time zones, using Yahoo Messenger or any other similar IM program to transfer a file would be a huge inconvenience. (It seems the only time that he gets on his computer is at three in the morning my time). So, any mail program or anything that allows large file attachments? thanks.

best way is to upload the mod in a website that offers hosting files for free (search for them) or you some p2p programs

you can split onto many files and send it one by one or recieve it. after you got all the files use the same software to join it.
