Your computer running faster and hard drive space are not necessarily one and the same. I doubt you have enough data in your pc to seriously affect it's performance, unless it's fragmented files. More likely slow system is due to inadequate ram, not running disk cleanup or disk defrag, too many background tasks running unecessarily. Autorun start ups. Improper drivers.
To answer your question though...I'd use an external storage device, iPod or other large capacity drive. Unless you are removing very little, which case cd would be fine

Well, it depends a few factors and also whats important to you.
If you are asking for archival purposes than it is best to put them on a CD or preferably a DVD. The reason is for cost. It will cost you around $10 to purchase a jump drive with 1GB of storage. But you can get a 50 pack of CD-R's that hold 700MB each for only $20 or so. You get much more bang for your dollar with the CD's.
For any other reason, use the jump drive. One, you will be able to access your files faster from the jump drive, especially if you have usb 2.0 slots. Secondly, if you constantly keep a cd in your cd drive it will wear it out. The cd drive has moving parts and like anything else, will wear out the more it is used. Lastly its all about ease. You can drag and drop the files and pictures on the jump drive, delete, rename, etc. No burning or waiting or erasing the disc.
So for archival, use CD's or DVD's, for everyday use, go jump drive. Hope this helped :).

I would do CD's/DVD's. Save your jump drive for temporarily transferring items from computer to computer.
That way you'll always have a transfer method at your fingertips and always have your jump drive for temporary transfers. And you have your pictures and music safe on a CD.

You can save them on either. Most flash drives have a lot more storage and I personally consider them more stable than a CD. Plus, they are so easy to carry. I have 3 gigs in my purse right now...

I would put them on dvds or cds, make a little album type deal so you can easily go back and look at them, while keeping everything organized.

Jump drive obviously. CD's are for applications and music for transferring mass wise.

Jump drive, they are less likely to fail you if they get scratched or damaged and they come at relatively low prices
