Ive been trying to download a season of the simpsons for over 2 days now. and only 10 of the 22 episodes are done, because my father keeps playing this retarded *** game called "second life" its eating all thew bandwidth to our whole house and everyone is sick of it so I want to slap a cap on his computer so his game cant hog it all, I have a actiontec router which Im the only one who knows how to access the online settings for it. Im not sure the model number or name or whatever but its all basically the same, Ive looked at the Qos thing and Im completely confused on that, so a easier way would be lovely.

Well you do know gaming uses VERY VERY little bandwidth right?

Gaming uses like 5-20KB/s download/upload lol

Im almost 100% positive you are torrenting it, so it probably people are using a slow upload speed or something.

EDIT: im an idiot and you cant even figure out the QoS settings? there is like nothing to it? how the fk can you not figure that out?

And your knowledge of bandwidth comes from..... what exactly?

Mine definitely doesnt come from monitoring my bandwidth usage in real time or anything....

playing WoW in busy areas used around 15-25KB/s, play MW3 was using like 5-15KB/s

That SOO much bandwidth!

Id say the most a game could EVER possible use is probably 100KB/s, which again isnt that much bandwidth unless you are jewish and getting the cheapest internet package that is like 1.5Mb/s (192KB/s)

also

"your an idiot"

you mean you're....

Look for the filtering options or bandwidth option and filter/limit with your computers MAC number.

do you have a router that supports QoS? if not then you need one ,if you do then use it, you should be able to select a pritority for the net then, so even if he is using it when your computer need something it will take priority and the rest will have to wait.

if you dont know how to use QoS just google for a guide...
