When I try to boot my pc with a different hard drive, I get a black screen and "Disk I/O Error" is displayed. I don't know if the hard drive jumper settings are wrong or not. How do I fix this so I can use the different hard drive in this pc?

seems to be a problem with the jumper settings. take out both hard disks and check the jumpers on it. The sticker on the HD will show you the possible settings:
- master
- slave
- cable select
for the disk containing the OS set master
for the second disk attached to the same cable set slave

If the hard drive was taken out from other PC,it can not work with new motherboard. You have to do BIOS first, then load device drivers from new motherboard CD

Sounds like you got to update your drivers and that is why I would just buy a new one.
it is like trying to make a chevy a Lincoln.
