I've got a dvd from the video shop I really like and I want to burn it onto my computer, but I don't know how. I've got Windows XP. I have got Itunes on my laptop (which I can't legally acess the internet with) but i've heard that itunes doesn't allow you to burn dvds onto it. I also have Windows Media Player, real player and something called Nero, which I have no idea how to work.
If you're going to help please make it as simple as possible.
I have alot of trouble with this software stuff.
Thanks.

Hello,

(ANS) Most commercial movie disks (i.e. DVD's) from the big stores such as HMV or Virgin or from your local video shop are copyrighted and also usually have some form of copying protection. Meaning it makes it very hard to make illegal copies of such movie disks. This has been done deliberately to reduce or stop films being pirated.

**However, some movies on DVD format can be copied or reproduced using special burning software abit like your Nero software.

**But in order to make copies of films you need to be able to crack (brake) the copy protection system on the original DVD disk, there are many such tools that can be found on the internet to do this. Once the protection i.e. encryption has been solved then the disk can be copied.

**Make sure you have a copying software that specifically states DVD to DVD copying because space & capacity are also a consideration, as movies on DVD can be several Gigabytes in size so they wont fit onto a normal CD-R disk.

**The term "burning" only applies to fixing or making a permanent copy of a movie disk or music album onto an external disk such as a DVD-R or CD-R disk.

sounds to me like what you're wanting to do is ILLEGAL. it's called PIRACY.

copying dvd's from the video store is illegal. and the reason you cannot legally access the internet with your laptop is probably because it has a pirated copy of Windows XP.

you can do some serious jail time along with serious fines if you copy DVD's from the video store.

Please don't ask questions like this, you can get in some serious trouble.

the easiest option is to use DVDdecypter...a free peice of software, search for it in yahoo....put in the disc, press one button and you're away.

However, this is only legal for DVDs you own, and for making backup copies...we use it to make discs for in the car cause the kids have a habit of scratching them,

The link for the software is below, click on the bit that says SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe and go...works all the time.

use nero (smartsuite)

use the copy dvd option piece of pie

unless of course it is protected in which you need a ripper

(piece of software that bypasses the protection)

please remember thou that it is illegal to copy hired ones

also have you got a dvd burner??

but it is that simple

This could be fun!!!!!!!!!!!

for a start you don't burn to your pc............you rip

presumably the dvd in question is encrypted, so you've to by pass this

the soft ware you need is called decrypter
