I've got a USB cable and the keyboard driver is installed on my computer - the problem is whenever I try and use the software provided by Yamaha, all I can receive is the .bup file.
Is there anyway I could either import tracks I've created on my keyboard to my computer?

OR

Is there any software I can use to record midi using my keyboard as imput?

Mostly likely, you cannot simply export MIDI files from a Yamaha keyboard.

The way to record the tracks you have programmed into the keyboard is to actually play the tracks while recording MIDI input on all 16 channels into some type of software. Yamaha keyboards generally can record and output MIDI on multiple different channels. You could either setup one track to record MIDI Omni (all channels), or setup separate tracks for each MIDI channel, giving you more options on mixdown.

The same software you use to record MIDI tracks stored on the keyboard could be used to record actual performance data from the keyboard. The software you get must be capable of synchronizing with the time clock of the keyboard - that is a very useful function when interfacing keyboard and computer.

Personally, I use Cakewalk SONAR (and a little Yamaha PSR-270) to record MIDI. There are other, cheaper versions of Cakewalk software that record MIDI, and probably other very cheap MIDI recorders, but I do not know of any to recommend.

Keep trying and researching, and you will eventually be able to do this.
