Such mails are called HTML based mails wherein the content is text+images...
Due to abuse, all Mail Providers have blocked showing Images within HTML-based Mails, unless explicitly asked too..
When you open the mail to read, you have option like: "Display External Images"
Click that & it would show you images...
Unless that.. the images would be replaced with blank box with X mark!
And even if, still you cant see images...then the mail you received or the newsletter....the images embedded in the mail may have been moved or deleted from the server where they are actually sourced from!
Generally happens when you read a old mail...

? that happens whilst the owner of the %mispells the filename, strikes the image to a clean itemizing, deletes the image, or the image will become corrupted with information from different data throughout importing to the internet, perhaps the image became into on no account uploaded to the account. ? some human beings additionally warm link or distant link to photographs on human beings's web content. you're able to on no account try this different than as a final hotel. if their server is down the image will no longer be able to load on the website. ? whilst some human beings discover out you're linking to their image they're going to replace it with a nude image or an illustration that asserts i'm the form of fool that hyperlinks to human beings's photos. yet another trick is to easily upload a sort onto the filename or itemizing call to interrupt the link.

If you don't know where it came from - DELETE
if you do know, ask the sender what it was.
