I saved a file in Microsoft Word on a windows vista computer but now when I try to open it it says:

"The document name or path is invalid. Thy these suggestions. Check the file permission for the document or drive. Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document."

I tried those suggestions and I still can;t get it to work. If any one could help, I would be very thankful.

so you are clicking on the file itself? not a short cut? Try to see if the file is 0kb. if not, load it on a flash drive and open it up from a different computer.

As the message indicates, the actual file may have been moved or *gulp* deleted. Do a search using Windows Explorer. I suppose you know the name of the file. If it is not found anywhere on the computer, it may really have been deleted. If that's the case, see if this will be able to recovery it:

If above solutions dont work....Try moving file to some other place.........rename the file to something else..........if you really cant open it then try opening it with notepad and copy the text items and paste it into new word doc......if still cant open it then upload the file to gmail and open online and then copy and paste into other word doc.........also check the files extension is .docx.........best of luck

Use windows explorer to search for the doc from the c:\ directory, then you'll know it still exists. Maybe just search for part of the filename, you may not remember the exact spelling.
