I need help with a computer... when it turns on... we must select one of these:
Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-21-generic
Ubuntu, with LInux 2.6.32-21-generic (recovery mode)
Memory test (memtest86+)
Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 11520)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (on/dev/sda1)

Then we select Windows, and we have 30 seconds to chose one of the following:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows Normally

The normal Windows XP starting screen starts, and works for 1-2 seconds, then a blue screen pops up with white letters, for a fraction of a second, and then the computer restarts again. This cycle goes on indefinitely, unless we turn it off by pressing the off button.
I don't know what to do, so please help.
Thanks in advance!!

running memtest isn't a bad idea

also boot into ubuntu to get the smart status off the drive

this way you can either confirm or rule out bad RAM or a bad Hard disk.

A Windows bluescreen can mean any number of things. Look for the name of the error on the screen; it's kind of in the upper left area. Then you can google that message and hopefully get some idea what's causing the trouble. To give you an idea, the one we see often in my office is BAD_POOL_CALLER, which typically means a problem with a driver.

You have the Blue Screen Of Death.

Try running on Safe Mode and do a system restore to see if that fixes it.
