At this point in time, the Intel Core 2 Duo chips are the best price/performance. These are super high performance dual core cards, and are getting really cheap in stores since Intel will soon come out with new chips.
Even the cheapest Core 2 Duo is better than most other chips out there.
If you're talking about this in terms of gaming, then any Core 2 Duo will outperform most any graphics card on the market, meaning, buy a better graphics card to speed up your game, not a better cpu.
Quad core is essentially useless at this point. Almost nothing uses quad core right now. You'd only want a quad core if you are doing intensive video editing/conversions and have want it slightly faster.
Gigahertz are a measurement of the CPU frequency. GHZ cannot be relied on as an accurate comparison between different kinds of chips. For example, my old AMD dual core chip with 2.2ghz is faster than the Intel chips of the time that were at 3.3ghz.

Intel Pentium Proscessor is better. If you wanna go all out you would look into getting a quad core processor. Ghz stands for Gigahertz and it is the speed of the processor.

intel core is probably the best.
Person above me.
Older processors with the same speed as a newer one will not preform equal. It does not all depend on the Ghz/mhz
