I've tried installing the new version of MSN messenger or some mixi tracking program and such, but I get the following error:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in a safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

(For MSN messenger, the error code was 0x80070641)

I tried searching and got this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315346

I tried following instructions and installed the supposedly new Installer but it didn't solve the problem. (I installed this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en )

how the heck do I solve this situation?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I use XP btw

The link you put for the installer didn't go anywhere, so I dont know what version you downloaded. Try this one:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&displaylang=en

Also, you can try unregistering and registering the installer.

Go to start > run and type in

msiexec /unregserver

and hit enter. The window will close.

Go to start > run again and type in

msiexec /regserver

and hit enter. The window will close again.

Then try installing your programs.

One way to solve this would be to check your Automatic Updates. If those updates are not turned on, you will receive this message. Windows Installer sends files little by little through Automatic Updates.

Go onto Microsoft's website and search for all updates you haven't recently gotten and download them. If this doesn't work.. you might have a registry error.

that is elementary really- You with out mission re-set up XP once extra. (previously you anticipate, learn) once you pass to position in it- with out mission opt for the R restore.... shop going by ability of the motions lie your going to position in. at the same time as it asks the position, there might want to be those possibilities.. restore, installation,Delete Partition.. You realize you go with restore.. If that dont artwork-UNinstall SP2 in upload/get rid of approaches.. (trust me) Then positioned it your XP SP2- go with "improve" reason it WONT allow you to position SP2 on a SP2... (Thats why u uninstalled it) installation XP- in 40 5 minutes...you'll have the whole software etc and NEW modern XP with operating records, environment etc.. **in case you'll Burn CD's then slipstream SP3 into it OVER the SP2 (improve meaning) you may want to must be prepared now...
