Question:
How can I get updates from the Windows Update site?

I'm on a school network and when I tried to use my computer, it said I needed the latest updates, as it always says, before I can access the Internet. But on the Windows Update site it just appears to load the updates I'll need (the green bar scrolls across) but after about 15 minutes, it just gives me an error code (0x80072F78).

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I thought maybe I could download the updates from my friends computer that I'm on now and put them on my computer with a floppy disk but I don't know how to do that either.

I have contacted Microsoft but they haven't given me a solution that works yet.

your guest restrictions on installing anything are very limited, the admin needs to login and make the updates to the system.

The updates would never fit on floppy disks - you'd need hundreds of them!

Try turning on automatic updates rather then going to the windows update website.

Its because of the school proxy server.
