I have downloaded the server program but i am running into 2 errors

1st using Minecraft-server.jar

I get a message saying: FAILED TO LOAD MAIN-CLASS MANIFEST ATTRIBUTES FROM C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\JAVA\JRE6\BIN\MINECRAFT-SERVER.JAR

Please note that i have followed information regarding the Environment Variables process and i still get the same message - I am using Windows 7 64-bit (not sure if this is the problem)

2nd using START SERVER.BAT

To get it to even run this way i had to place all the server files in the JAVA folder, create the ADMINS.TXT, BANNED.TXT files etc.So i have managed to get past the error parts saying that certain logs were missing (admins, banned, banned-ip etc etc)

now the problem is it is saying FAILED TO LOAD SERVER.PROPERTIES! & FAILED TO SAVE SERVER.PROPERTIES!

I've been told once i connected to the server it would download all the required files but nothing happened and i had to create the files myself (as above), now i get annoyed at the server.properties problem.

Alright now I had problems with this too but i fixed it. Im on windows 7 64 bit too and i do prefer vista lol. So lets get down to bussiness. Make sure you have java installed and that your directory is right. Alright If you have downloaded the exe file delete it because it is not java. Now go back to the site and download the jar file. Now to make sure your run.bat file is right. Make a new notepad file and name it whatever you want. Then open it and copy and paste java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar then save it as "run.bat" without the quotations. Now make sure you have set up a directory, go to your start menu and right click computer then click on properties then go to advanced system settings and then envirement variables then click path then edit. now copy and paste this into the end of the path ";C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin" without the quotations. Now click ok on everything then go to your folder with the server in it and click on run.bat and wait for it to load up. If you are having trouble connecting to your server you may have to use hamachi to get a seperate ip adress. If you do tell me. Hope this works.

When 7-zip gives the 'not implemented' error, it normally means u had minecraft open when u tried to do the moving and u have closed minecraft and tried again. Reopen them in 7zip will fix this. Why it doesn't work in multiplayer.. did u press O to reveal it? And if it is there, did you make yourself OP because u cannot spawn items without being OP

Did you install it As administrator (right-click to get the option)?
