A little search and I found that installing some sort of hardware that needs an installation disk could be causing it.
Found two references from people who said it was from their printer. They used their printer install disk and said it fixed it for them.

try re-installing it and if it doesnt work, do what it says, get a valid copy of the instalation package. I only fancy myself a computer expert so YOU DUMMIES BETTER NOT LISTEN TO ME!!! XD

status.msi is a file which arises due to partly or incomplete installation of Windows xp or Windows vista. to prevent this you shall install Windows xp or Windows vista completley,from the same cd you had partly installed Windows xp or Windows vista or uninstall it if you want to work with the present windows of your computer.
Remove the install with this:
