Mac os and vista would be the best, that way you can have the wonderful features from the mac, and if you need something from windows you can switch to vista for a certain program.
if you have xp it would be better than vista
if you are low on hard drive space, just go with Mac.
mac is just better..
but if your going to install mac osx then you need to have a mac computer.. and its poinless to ruin a beautiful mac with windows software.

I've got a tri-boot system: I run Mac OS X Leopard, Win XP Pro, and Vista Ultimate on my iMac. At startup, I get to choose what OS to load.
It's awesome because I can do...well, anything. And since Windows runs native on an Intel Mac, I don't loose any speed or stability in Windows: in fact, it's faster on my Mac that it was on my PC!
Keep in mind though, it's virtually impossible to run Mac's OS X on a PC unless you build the PC from scratch with VERY SPECIFIC specs. I know some people have ran it on a PC with a OSx86 hack, but you have to have serious programming knowledge to do it and it's still pretty unstable. Also, it's against Mac's Terms Of Service.
If you have a Mac, try a dual boot system (or a tri-boot) using Boot Camp (it comes with Leopard). Personally, I love it.

If you have a Windows PC, you will not be able to run MAC applications even after installing the Mac OS.
If you have an Intel based MAC, you can dual boot the Mac OS and either Vista or XP
This site shows you how to dual boot with Vista http://dailyapps.net/2008/03/hack-attack-dual-boot-leopard-and-windows-vista/
This site shows you how to dual boot with XP. http://maconpc.distinctlyjordan.com/2008/03/20/how-todual-boot-xp-and-leopard/
I believe XP has less problems but it's up to you.
