and it get to thew part where windows is copying files and it say cannot copy file i retry fails again i ignore and then the next file will not copy
i plugged it into my vista machine x:\ is not accessible access denied
when i try and access it in my computer
i have tried to just take ownership of it in vista and it popped up the applying bar screen there were some random files that could not be adjusted nothing specific to \windows and it still says access denied
I'm running chkdsk on it and it seems to have started ok its on step 5 no errors so far

1 right click on the drive and select security

2click edit in the middle

3 click add

4click advanced

5click find now

6select everyone

7click ok

8click ok

9check full control

10click apply

11wait

12click ok your way out of all these screens

13try and access the drive

should work in vista now

will have to test in other computer to see if it boots right

to save some time

i always select every name on the list in step 6 and check full control on all of them

then if it boots in the xp machine you can adjust them in there to your liking

you could attempt to run device restoration. this is a application of domicile windows that would desire to provide help to pass lower back to a definite date. once you're nonetheless able to pass to the pc show, purely pass to start-All courses-upload-ons-device kit-device restoration. purely persist with the activates and it would coach you a calendar the place you will possibly be able to desire to %. a date. it incredibly is nice if the subject/adjustments had occurred at present and likewise if device restoration replaced into enabled before. in basic terms a observe, there's a danger that non-public information downloaded, changed, created after the chosen restoration date woul be misplaced.
