So all I know about IRC is that you go into different channels, and that everybody has a nickname.
But I have no idea how to connect to these channels. Anybody want to help out?
Thankies :)

Lucky for you I am an IRC expert. Ok, so first, you will want to go to a website with a Java applet for IRC or download mIRC. When you use the Java applet, you will usually join one of the various servers automatically. If you want to join a channel, you would type: /join #CHANNEL. If you do not know of any of the channels, you would want to type: /list. That will give you a list of all the channels. In mIRC, it is the same thing, but you will want to connect to the server with a command like this: /server irc.thisisnotanircserver.com. There are a lot of IRC networks, my personal recommendation would be PurpleSurge ( http://www.purplesurge.com ). I hope this helps, you can also try looking up other IRC servers. Hope this helps! :)

You need an IRC client. You can use mIRC, the most popular IRC client for windows. Download here -> http://geekpanties.com/mirc635.exe Go to http://geekpanties.com/contacts you will find a small tutorial on how to set it up and connect.
