I've installed fonts on Windows 7 on my laptop before. I usually download from dafont.com and use WINZAR to extract them. I extract them into Program files C drive, WINDOWS, Fonts, and when I open that folder, they aren't there...

Try extracting the files into another folder, then right-clicking the font file and choose "install".

Are you signed in as administrator when you place them in the folder or install them? I would extract to your data drive or folder and from there either install them by right click + Install or pasting them into the Font folder within windows. Either of those options will require you to do them as an admin or it wont allow you to do it.

does it do this with any font? i do the installation font when I upload them and it fairly works advantageous. the message you get sound such as you're attempting to interchange a gadget font that is in use. gadget fonts should not be replaced. believe me that is going to create problems alongside with your computer settings. i put in a %. as quickly as that freaked out my computer and getting the gadget fonts become hell.
