Ok, I am not entirely sure what you mean but If you mean the different types of computers i.e laptops, desktops then here is your answer:

1. Laptop (Also know as a Notebook to Mac fans)

2. Desktop

3. Netbook (these are based on the use of the internet)

4. Nettop (same as a Netbook but are known for small factor)

5. Smartbook (cross between a smartphone and a Netbook)

6. Tablet PC ( Touch screen Notebook small factor)

7. Workstation (Used in networks and are used by several people but not at the same time commonly for work related purposes)

8. PowerBook (more powerful version of a notebook)

There are a ton more in the link below:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_computer

If you mean operating system there is only three commonly know types:

1. Macintosh

2. Windows

3. Linux

Here is the 2nd answer to your question:

What's better is you opinion I prefer Mac and have had them in my family for 15 years starting off with a 180c PowerBook, now I have a intel based iMac. There are several reasons I prefer Mac to PC one of them being that they don't crash (often) They work well for people who multitask the operating system looks so much better and is consistent (they don't just drop off where they expect no one will go)

They are made for people who enjoy to be creative and they a particularly easy to use I could go on forever but I let a Mac fan-boy do that. It is slightly hard to explain why I like it but I do and you would have to use a Mac to see what I'm talking about. Last I like there quote from their "Think Different" campaign:Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. Lastly (again) I enjoy their sense of humor e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sosumi

Sosumi was a sound added to Macintosh version 7 after a conflict against a music company Apple corps saying that Apple Computer Inc a had copied it name so they came to an agreement that the computer was not allowed to have any thing to do with music and when the new system came out one of the new sounds was Sosumi (homophone of so sue me)

Is that enough??? email me if you want more

Sadly i can only answer the question "What's better Mac or Windows? Why?" The answer depends on the usage of the computer using the Operating System

Mac

good for business/professional stuff

like: typing up essays, surfing the internet, uploading digital photos, making slide shows, and has much less viruses

Windows

good for average user who might do a bit of everything

like: playing games, watching videos online, downloading, using a wide variety of programs, but there are many more viruses out for Windows than Mac

Mac: Expensive, hard to upgrade, inferior hardware that can run *nix or Windows.

PC: Cheaper, easy to upgrade, superior hardware that can run *nix or Windows.

BTW, Mac is a type of computer, Windows is an operating system - you can't compare them directly any more than you can directly compare Chevys and Suede.

Seven types of computers? Define "types". Analog and digital. Mechanical and electronic. Apple, IBM, Gateway ... etc. What category are we in, here? (If that's a test question in school, and you haven't gone into it any further than the question, your teacher needs some parts replaced - mainly the one at the north end of his/her neck. As asked, it's meaningless.)
