I have a friend who owns Microsoft Office 2007. I want this edition of office badly. My friend stays over 1,000 miles away from me. However, we both have yahoo messenger and send each other messages all the time. With that being said, how could she send Microsoft Office 2007 to me through Yahoo messenger? If not, what other method could be used to transfer this file to my computer?

The easiest way to do it would be for your friend to send you an invite for help thru Win XP. This will let you connect directly to her computer and you can pull the image of the CD'(s).

Keep in mind that this is illegal software piracy before doing it. I do this when I need to get files from work that I need at home or home or work to school, etc. You could use the remote assistance feature or you could upload to an FTP server and then have them download it, or vice versa if you are the one who wants to do this. Depending ont he size of the file, you can always use a free online storage solution like briefcase.yahoo.com but you will break the law again by violating the EULA.

Another poster suggested Open Office, I suggest that too and saving to buy Office 2007.

In doing so, you will risk your friend losing her license to use Office 2007. You cannot use her code, and the min. you would use it, it would go out on the internet and you would need to vailidate it with her code. Microsoft is going to know this and neither of you will be able to update it once they find out.

If you want an office program that works like Microsoft Office, do yourself and your friend a favor. Download Sun's Open Office program found at http://www.openoffice.org

For simple files, the easiest way is to send them as attachments to e-mails. But that will not work for software packages such as Office; for that, pack the installation CD in an envelope and drop it in the mail.

Go to http://www.yousendit.com/

It's free and you can send large files over the internet to anyone with a e-mail address. Just tell your friend to go to this website and use it to send the program to your e-mail address.

go buy the program yourself, getting it from her is very risky and both of you will end up without the program.
