Mp4 - Windows media player - help?

i have some videos on my computer that are Mp4. I have windows media player and so it will not play the mp4 file. What can i download or do to make it play? Best answer goes to whoever helps make it work. any links would help.

Install a codec package to make it work in Windows Media Player.

For me usually that's a format for iTunes videos so it should work in Quicktime, but for any codec problems I just use the CCCP Pack

download windows media encoder. its from microsoft.com and it works well on my comp. either that or go to mediaconverter.org and convert it for free. its real easy!
