I've always wondered how your suppose to watch the sample file before your dowload is finished.. which would be the whole point of the sample to see if it's worth downloading or not. But it will never let me watch it until the whole torrent is downloaded.

In all bittorrent clients (Vuze, utorrent, transmission, bitcomet etc), you should be able to select the priority in which the file is downloaded. Give the sample a higher priority and it will download faster than the rest of the files in the torrent package. If you want to be extra sure, give all the other files in the package a lower priority as well.

Then, check in your Downloads directory and play the sample file.

Most of the video torrents have screens associated with them. Screens are the screen shots of the video after set intervals of time say every 5 minutes. However if the screens are missing then you will have to rely on user comments posted on the torrent as well as the number of seeders on the torrent. Higher number of seeders generally indicate that the torrent is of good quality.

Finally in absence of all the above data you will have to download at least some portion of the video generally the first few and the last few pieces of the video file. This type of file can be run in media player classic or VLC player depending upon your choice. Of course you will have to guess the quality of the whole video on the basis of first and the last few seconds. To download torrents in such a way so as the first few pieces and the last few pieces are downloaded first you will have to configure your torrent client. For example in uTorrent this option can be activated as under:

Options (In Menu) -> Preferences -> Advanced -> bt.prio_first_last_piece -> True.

I would normally say don't moan about something that is free. However, the problem is that you are relying on people from all over the world to share with you. If they only set their upload limit to a certain amount, thats all you'll get. Plus like you, they are not online all day so its hard to get a good speed all day long. I often find that the best time to download is first thing in the morning as its much faster or late at night. Better still, just leave it on overnight.

Its easy, just open the file normally but don't open it while the torrent program is downloading, it might corrupt the data and make you start downloading all over again from the start, i actually don't think you should open the file you are downloading before the torrent 100% download it.
