My mouse cursor on my work computer jumps from one side to the other... is someone remotely connected?

When I'm at work at least 5 times a day, my mouse cursor will just jump to the bottom right of the screen. Is this a mouse problem (optical).. although it wouldn't seem like it because its instant.. or is it someone possibly remotely connecting to my screen ( the IT department or management) ?? Once I had held down the left click button on the desktop and it happened, and instantly it was a huge box (a selection box), so there is no intermediate, only an instant jump. Thanks for your help...

is it a laser mouse? because if it is and u use it on a shiny surface it will reflect the laser back making it jump to the bottom right of the screen. It also could be just the mouse, i have a mouse that does it too. or it could be that your hand is straying across the touchpadwhen you are typing

Since it is an optical mouse, sometimes a piece of dirt or dust will cause the laser to deflect funny and make the mouse go haywire. It is very unlikely that someone is one your PC remotely. Blow out the bottom of the mouse where the laser is and clean you mouse pad, desk surface. You want to use a mouse pad that is soft and not plastic or reflective. I wouldn't think it needs replaced. It is optical so that tells me it's the laser getting messed up

If you have a remote mouse, change the batteries. If it's a 'wired mouse' then it's getting old and needs to be replaced. Mice get old just as quickly as the other 'technology' in a computer, but they tend to be kept longer ... and what you described is simply that it's 'getting old' ... but if it's a remote, new batteries should help, and if it's wired, it simply needs to be replaced.

well remote desktop would kick any other users and most other remote software has a little icon that you would notice change color in your tasks bar, it is hard to say though as to what might be causing it based on the information. I would contact the IT department and have them look into it
