It's simple. Click "Start" then click on "Run". Type in "msconfig". This will open a Program window called System Configuration Utility. Click on the "Startup" tab at the top. Uncheck the programs that you do not want to automatically start when you turn on your computer. If you don't know for sure what it is, Dont uncheck it! Then restart your computer. You will get a message saying some programs did not start. Click "Do not show this again". It's that simple. Good luck!

On Vista click Start and type msconfig in the Search box and hit enter
On XP click Start and type msconfig in the Run box and hit enter
The Microsoft System Configuration window opens
Go to the STARTUP tab and take ticks out of stuff you don't want.
If any problems occur because you have unticked stuff you actually need then just repeat the process and put the ticks back in.
You can google any entries you are not sure about.

Click on start
click on Run
type "msconfig" and hit enter. Do not type the quote marks
Goto start up
Uncheck everything you do not want to start up (Google things if you don't know what they are. You should really only uncheck things after knowing what they are for sure, as some of those are necessary
