my computer recently had antivirus 2009 , so i downloaded malwarebyte's anti-malware. i did a quick scan, then deleted the viruses it found. it told me to restart my computer, so i did, and now my computer is stuck in a reboot loop with a BSOD!!! like first it asks me how i want to restart my computer (safe mode, last known good configurations, normally) then it shows the bsod and starts all over again. is there any way to fix this without a cd and without major loss of data?

here's a long shot:

insert the Windows XP disc into your computer and boot up from the CD.

You will get to a window that asks you if you want to reformat or repair your copy of XP.

Choose to repair your copy and hope that it works.

It's not guaranteed, but it's just a suggestion.

To get rid of antivirus 2009 I used Windows Defender with the latest definitions, nothing else seemed to work. As far as preventing that loop, try putting in windows cd and repairing windows instead of reinstalling. that might help.

wow... haven't heard of antivirus 2009/360 causing this yet... you are the first... ok well are you able to boot into safe mode or any other mode? what does the bluescreen say? is it a driver issue? usually the driver faulting can tell you where to start troubleshooting.
