im using firefox and yesterday i installed the new internet explorer 7, just to try it out, after that i restarted my computer all of my cookies from my firefox has been deleted, i dont like deleting my cookies because there are some sites that keep you logged in like forever (youtube, yahoo, etc) so heres my problem every time i close my browser it keeps deleting my cookies and it gets really annoying logging in everytime i open the browser. is it because i installed IE7?

oh and another question ive been keeping my computer on for the past week and sometimes my icons are get rearranged and sometimes it seems like it turns off by itself because i never use windows messenger i always close when i boot up or restart my computer and this morning i saw the icon in the taskbar and some of the other programs i had running are closed, etc.is it because i download torrents or something?

IE and Firefox work independently. IE setting cannot effect Firefox. There is a setting in Firefox that will clear your personal data every time you log off. Check you Firefox options menu. Click Tools>Pivacy. You will see the box there that may be checked to clear you data every time you log off.

As for the weird things that are happening. Torrents are a source that may infect your machine. I would run a couple of scans to be sure your computer is clean.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from CA.

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virus...

Run Spybot and Adaware weekly.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/...... . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run---http://www.snapfiles.com/get/SuperAntiSpyware.html

Now to prevent spyware from being installed in the first place....

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html...

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:

- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.

- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.

- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

You can choose in the options how you want your cookies to be handled. It seems you have checked the box that says delete my cookies everytime I close my browser.

So uncheck it check the bo that says Never delete my cookies.

It seems somebody is playing with your machine, so I'd suggest you to scan it with a good antivirus.

I haven't used torrent but as far as I remembered I didn't install it because it had some adware.

to your first question.... in your internet explorer go to "tools" then "internet options" and it will show you all the preferences and from there you should be able to set it so it won't delete the cookies, as to your other question i'm not quite sure, sorry
