Ignore the two idiots below me. People, if you don't know the answer, please don't GUESS.

It says unsecured because you didn't encrypt the wireless network when you set it up.

Solution: double click on the wireless adapter icon, right click on YOUR network profile (There might be more than one) to open up properties. From there, reset it up and choose the highest encryption as possible (WPA2 64 bit or 128 bit is a good choice). The password should be generated automatically and make sure YOU WRITE IT DOWN.

Note: Different adapters have different setups, this is only a general solution.

Type 192.168.0.1 into your browser's address bar.

The routers interface home page will appear.

Click on SETUP and Click on the WIRELESS SETTINGS at left side.

ON the WIRELESS SECURITY drop down menu choose WPA2

Enter a password

click ok

Depending on your exact model it may be slightly different to this but so long as you look for the items that I put in capitals you will find what you need

do you have the setup disk? they ask for protection? If no longer then you might desire to be related as in under pressure to the router, flow on your internet browser and charm interior the url on your linksys router. linksys will supply it to you in case you do not have it. flow into the routers admin website, might ask for admin password, pick the form encryption you prefer and supply it a password. then while your laptops connect they are going to be ask for the password purely the 1st time. verify all laptops help the form of encryption you place on the router, you will understand in the event that they do no longer "communicate" to the router.

You will need to access the configuration webpage and configure password and encryption type. The address is properly http://192.168. 0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 Look for a WLAN menu. If you are not sure about how to do it, look it up in the product manual.

Call your cable company if you have it and set up a secure network. I don't think it should cost anything either

Ask your ISP to help you set up a password, I don't recommend attempting it solo unless you know how to do it.
