How can I download a flash video off of a website?

I need to use an old news report from the BBC website for a work presentation, and I was wondering if there is any way to pull a copy of the video off the site and download it as an avi or mpg or any other file type that can be put into a powerpoint presentation? I'm pretty sure the site itself doesn't allow it, but is there some type of software I can download that will take care of this for me? Something that would essentially allow me to take a two minute long screenshot?

To add flash videos from Internet, refer to the article "Insert Flash Videos to PowerPoint", http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/blog/embed-a-flash-video-into-powerpoint-convert-ppt-presentation-to-flv-format/

Flash video is normally done in that format for exactly that reason so you can't steal it for your own use.

Bear in mind that if you do this you WILL be breaking copyright laws, even though it's freely available on the BBC if you don't have their permission to use it in the work presentation you could be done for breach of copyright.

I presume by BBC we're on about iPlayer? Easiest way is if you have something like a Wii or PS3, plug that into a DVD recorder and play it through the Wii or PS3 onto the DVD recorder and record it to DVD. Then you've got it in DVD format which you can now convert to any other format you want with various DVD rippers (remember to finalise the disc though or else your PC wont read it).

If you don't have a Wii or PS3 you can also do it via the S-VIDEO connector on a laptop but you need to enable the external monitor and drag the video screen over to it.

Don't be puzzled, and you don't need to Google it any more, because the method most pages suggest is just bu-****, it will only wast your time.

The right way is to make a screen shot, and you just got it.

And here is a list of software which can help you achieve this:

1.Cam Studio: http://camstudio.org/ (totaly free but function is not so much)

2.Demo Creator:http://www.sameshow.com/demo-creator.html#110 (you have to choose "full motion recording")

3.Camtasia Studio:http://www.techsmith.com/camtesia.asp

There is a program called (I think) bbc iplayer downloader. This might work but as someone else has already pointed out, you could be breaching copyright if you use it. Be careful.

Look for SoThink - google SoThink SWFCapture. That's supposed to be pretty good for that kind of thing, but having had no practical experience in using it, that's all I've been told about it.
