I just reformatted my hard-drive last week and the only programs I installed are i-Tunes, Adobe, and Skype. Does anyone have any idea why my internet is so slow? It literally takes 45 seconds for a page to load, and to click my cursor in the URL box takes like 15 seconds; it's obnoxious. I already ran the disk defragmenter. What else should I do to fix this?

This may not be an Internet connection issue as much as a browser issue, if you've got Vista & IE 8. The 2 just plod along, almost as if it were dial-up.

Some drop back to IE 7.

Others (like me) download/install Ultimate 7 RC Windows, and IE 8 runs slick.

You really should try Firefox (with "NoScript" add-on) for blazing web page loading & far superior security, irrespective of what OS you'll be using, and leave IE mothballed (use only for Windows updates).

Give it a try.

Defragmenting eliminates distinctive errors and unused stuff on your pc, and enables optimize it. final, how outdated is your pc? a working laptop or pc it incredibly is particularly outdated won't run as quickly as one which replaced into made interior the previous 2-3 years. in case you have one drawing near 10 years, now may be an spectacular time to seek for a clean one.

You can try resetting the modem by removing power from it, let stand for 30 seconds, repower and wait for it to initialize. Then try the internet again.

Call your Internet service provider. They have free tech support. I'm not saying they'll fix it 100%, but they'll try and they'll give you some tips on what to do.
