The problem you have is your hard drive is not booting either because it has a hardware fault (most likely) or a problem with the BIOS boot order.

You need to enter the BIOS setup. Watch the screen when you turn on the computer. There should be a message that instructs you how to enter the BIOS like hit f2, f10, or esc. If no message appears then refer to the manual or just hit one of those buttons during boot repeatedly to see if that key will work. When you Get into BIOS look for a setting that indicates the boot order and make sure that the hard drive is listed first. More than likely there is no problem with your boot order. The boot order makes it possible to boot of USB drives, cdrom, etc.

The reason you see the realtec message is simple. When the commuter boots the bios goes through the bootable devices to see which will boot the computer according to the boot order. First the computer will try to boot from the cdrom drive. If that fails it tees to boot the hard drive. If that fails then it looks for an attached USB drive. Finally it will look to the network card to set if it boot using an operating system located on the network. You see the realtec message because this NetBoot has failed since you are not using a terminal server.

You can go to ubuntu.com and download a bootable live cd. Place this cd in commuter and then boot. If the commuter boots into Linux try to find the hard drive under the computer pull down menu. If the drive shows up then your windows install is at fault and you can use the windows install cd to repair it or reinstall. You may want to back up your hard drive to an external or network attached drive before continuing.

If your hard drive does not show up then you hard drive is broken. Laptop hard drives are easy to replace but seek a professional repair shop if you are not sure what to do.

Good luck.

I believe that your hard drive has gone bad. Turn your computer on and keep hitting F8 until you get a screen that allows you to go into Safe Mode with Networking. More details would be needed to solve this.

I believe that some files on C:/windows/system 32 may have been deleted or corrupt.
