How do i backup songs on my computer?

I downloaded alot of songs to my computer and they take up alot of space which slows my computer down. I was wondering if there is a way that i can safely save my songs in some sort of backup file, and delete them from my documents. this way i will still have my music and my computer gains space becaused its really old. How do i do this?

You will need a external hard drive. You can just move to the harddrive. However one problem you that you will always need to attach your external HD into you computer in order for you to access you song



Deleting file to free up hard drive space is a good way to speed up you computer if you hard drive is almost full. However after you delete the song you should do a defrag and disk clean up too. Beside backing up file in external drive you can also uninstall some program and install a register cleaner to speed up you compute r

You can save your files to a flashdrive or a cd , then safely remove them from your computer . You can transfer them to a flashdrive by ; placing it in an open usb port . Once your computer reconizes it , go to the file that has your songs (my music ?) , right click on that file > click on Copy . Then go to the new flashdrive you installed . Click start > My Computer > "temporary/disc drive" (say "H" ) Then click on "H" , when this opens , then right click again and click on Paste . Your files will be transfered to the flash drive . Once they are , Safely remove the flash drive , then plug it back in to check that everything you wanted to save is there and works ; click on a song and see if it plays ? If so , remove the flash drive again , then you can delete the songs from the file you transferred them from safely . You would pretty much do all of the above with a CD , but you may need a Cd burning program , if you not have one , check out Nero . I use it for both CD's and DVD's . Hope this helps ?
