My mother recently had someone look at her computer to try to speed it back to the way it was when she first bought it. They installed Windows 7, which apparently does not work with Outlook express.
Is there a way to retrieve her address book or another program she can use to access her account so she doesn't have to send everyone a new email address?

Two things going on here.

First, Windows 7 doesn't come with Outlook Express - but you can download Windows Live Mail from Microsoft which is the closest thing to Outlook Express, free from http://download.live.com

Second, her Outlook Express address book *might* still be somewhere on her computer; it depends on how the upgrade to Windows 7 was done. She should ask the place that upgraded her computer if they saved any of her old files.

Oh, and one more thing... she won't have to change her email address. The email account she was using with Outlook Express is still out in the Internet somewhere; she just needs the right software or web site to access it (and she needs the details on how to connect to that account, which is probably available from her ISP, which you can infer from her email address, for example if her address ends in @comcast.net, then her ISP is Comcast, etc.).

You can download Outlook Express at the Microsoft site. They have stopped supporting it, and are hoping people will pick up another email client instead. If you didn't keep copies before Win7 was installed, then her address book and inbox are gone.
