I am trying to install 'Hooked on Phonics Master Reader, Green Level' and when I start to install it it says: "Setup cannot write to the destination file" followed by a few numbers and symbols. What do I need to do in order to get the CD to install?

My best guess would be the app is trying to write to the source. Try copying all the contents of the CD to a hard disk and attempt to install from there.

Of course it can also be an error on the CD.

it usually means you are a hacker and you dont understand what you are doing

you cant run the setup program whilst the files are ona CDrom(which is READ only)

so you DRAG the WHOLE folder to your pc and put it somewhere sensible.

you might then have inadvertently kept the READ only attributes of ALL the files

one of which might be a config file where say this game or whatever wants to

SET your video card spec into at a guess.

so you right click the folder, and choose properties

you then UNTICK the READ only and TICK the box that says

apply to all sub files and folders(or something like that)

and now all the files can be changed

then you run the install/setup, and it should work.

Hi there,

There are numerous documented benefits and advantages of teaching children to read early on, and teaching them to reading using phonics and phonemic awareness instructions. It is clear that early language and reading ability development passes great benefits to the child as they progress through school at all grades, and that early language and reading problems can lead to learning problems later on in school.

For a simple, step-by-step program that can help your child learn to read visit this web site: http://readingprogram.toptips.org
