please can anyone help me please urgent i have a laptop compaq armada m300 it was starting up ok and closing down ok but now when i press the on button to start up it comes up with this error fixed disk parameter table or bios error system Halted.please can anyone help me put it right please give details in a easy way please urgent urgent

An educated guess would be that it means your hard drive has become faulty.

It is possible that your CMOS memory was corrupted and the drive parameters were lost. Try going into the BIOS screen and see if you can find the drive configuration page. If there's an option for letting the BIOS configure the drive automatically, choose it. It should say something like 'Automatic recognition'. Save the BIOS settings and reboot. Otherwise, you may need to find out the drive parameters and enter them manually.

If that works, you may need to change your CMOS battery if it is going flat. If it doesn't you may have a faulty drive.

That data describing the Heads and sectors of your boot device in BIOS settings do not match the Fdisk partion data
