Under "processes" in my Windows Task Manager function, there appear to be TWO IE's running even though I only opened one. When I open a second IE window, then there appear to be THREE IE's running. Why is this?

I can only think that one instance of IE is running in memory - close all IE windows and then check task manager. If iexplore.exe is still running, right click->end process. Some legitimate programmes can launch IE for update purposes - unfortunately so can malware. Also check that you don't have iexplorer.exe running which is malware.

Not sure but In the task manager open the processes tab to see what is using your CPU.
