I have a downloaded movie with this Dolby format for the audio and i get an error message saying "file contains a track in the Dolby AC3 Audio (code "8192") format." and it suggests i install a DirectShow decoder for this audio format in order to hear the soundtrack of this file. Any serious advice would be very appreciated.

As the above guy said, VLC is an amazing program for playing multiple codec videos. If, for some reason you do not like VLC, you might try MPlayerX, which is a free program on the app store. Both work well and should be able to play the formats you requested. If for some reason they can't, VLC's website has a vast amount of codecs which you can install with VLC to play videos.

I would recommend MPlayerX above VLC. Although VLC has many of the same features, MPlayerX was designed specifically for macs, and as such is able to work with multi gestures as well as Apple remote.

You could always try VLC Player, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html It supports a lot of formats. this one is for mac. Hope this works and yes its completely 100% free and safe.
