We just updated a line of systems from a lesser PCI video card to a newer PCI-E card. 4/5 of the systems we installed them on work fine, except on one we are receiving the error on startup.

"error allocating mem BAR for pci device"

It works fine with all PCI devices unplugged, but when we put it back in the error comes up again. We have tried uninstalling the old and current drivers, and nothing. Tried resetting the BIOS too and nothing as well. We don't want to wipe the system unless we have to.

The problem is that a PCI device installed may be faulty or incompatible. I got the same error with a dell dimension 3100 and after I removed a PCI modem that was installed the problem went away. May be you should try a different card in the systems with the errors.
