My laptop has developed a weird and annoying habit. The internet will be running smoothly and then suddenly it will just become super slow. Like insanely slow. And the connection is still full and working flawlessly. I notice that if I close it and open it back up it runs perfectly like nothing happened.
Can it be that I got to much stuff running or on my laptop?
It's driving me insane that I am constantly having to close and open my laptop every 15 minutes to get the internet to run smoothly.

In my many years of software issues and resolution I have never heard of such a weird event. There unfortunately isn't enough to go off from to determine the source of the problem. From your description it sounds like only the internet is going slow and not the computer itself, correct? Having too much stuff on a computer or having too many things open would affect overall performance and not just the internet.

If that is the case try closing the browser and reopening it, or even just trying a different browser.

Additionally, when you close your laptop does it sleep automatically or stay connect? If your laptop is going to sleep and breaking internet connections when being closed then you may have a more serious problem. If that's the case the most likely scenario is that you have malware or a virus, or even more likely what's called a trojan. Your laptop and internet could unknowingly be giving out information, or someone could be connecting to you. I only suggest this as a possibility if your computer is sleeping because it could be breaking connection with the harmful contacts and then re-establishing them over time.

Right off I don't think it's an internet issue because it would be more consistent. But make sure your wifi is passworded, and even change it for good measure if you want. Use WPA2-PSK password option if your router supports it.

Don't get too freaked out about the virus thing right off. First, perform some other testing with software, resetting router, things like that.

It could be that your internet company is doing some underground works in the area ,upgrading possibly . Or if you are not on cable but on the phone line .... if there was floods or simply heavy rains telephone wires underground get rust cover and that slows down connection really bad . Or if you have wireless that is not password protected some neighbor is stealing your bandwidth . Best call your internet company and let them check it out for you . They can do tests while waiting on the line .
