R u sure it's not mute?

double click on your SPEAKER icon in taskbar.check both Master Volume & Wave.

if it's not mute try keystroke(windows key + pause).in hardware see under device manager if your driver is OK.if it's not you'll see a ! mark beside it.reinstall sound card.

(you can use a microphone to see if Sound Card is alright)

check a couple of simple things:

is there a headphone plugged in? -> remove it

is the volume icon present near the clock? if yes, check all the volumes. if not -> reinstall sound driver from motherboard cd or internet (look for your motherboard's model, you'll find it)

check every connection on your speakers: if it is a surround (like mine) check the back of the subwoofer, or the back of the pc.

if your sound driver is properly installed, open the program (usually near the clock, or hidden, via HD, etc sound driver): double-click it and check the configuration (stereo, 2.1, 5.1, 7.1,) then run a sound test.

and last (this may be the most trivial, but hey! it happens): check if winamp, vlc, or any other media player is muted. silly? sometimes overlooked :)

if none works, restart computer, uninstall driver and download the latest from the internet.

have fun!

1) make sure the outlet that the speakers are plugged into is good (unplug speakers and plug something else into that outlet to make sure it works)

2) check volume on speakers

3) check volume on computer (usually you can double-click the little speaker icon on the bottom right of the taskbar). You may have accidentally hit the mute button

4) unplug speaker leads that go into the computer, make sure they look sound, clean them if necessary and re-insert.

If none of this works, try plugging the speaker lead into something other than your computer (like an MP3 or CD player) to see if the speakers themselves are bad

If speakers are good and the problem is on the computer, you may have to fiddle with your sound settings in Control Panel.

test them by going to control panel>sounds>Do you see your speakers showing up in there? With a check mark? Go to sounds tab. then in the box at the bottom, pick a sound and click test. anything? Most likely you need to reinstall your audio drivers. email me with your computers model and Ill be glad to direct you. goodluck!
